With all Australians being urged to #StayAtHome during the coronavirus outbreak, Hockey Australia (HA) is producing a series of daily unique hockey video content aimed at helping you and your family keep healthy, active, engaged and entertained.

The content will be provided by your favourite Kookaburras & Hockeyroos players, various coaches, other High Performance support staff, as well as officials and other members of the hockey community.

So get out your hockey stick, ball and improvise with other items from around your home – it is all about being creative!

Indoor Hockey Festival – Update

Hockey Australia wishes to advise that at present, the Australian Indoor Hockey Festival in Wollongong beginning on 4 January will go ahead as scheduled.

Over the past days, Hockey Australia has been and continues to be in contact with the Rural Fire Service, Wollongong Council, Destination Wollongong and Wollongong Police in regards to monitoring and preparing for risks to the Indoor Hockey Festival and its participants.

Hockey Australia and tournament officials will also continue to monitor the air quality through the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

Events will continue, however in line with the ever-changing conditions, Hockey Australia will provide updates as it continues to monitor all available information sources as well as contacts with relevant authorities.

Ahead of the Indoor Hockey Festival, below is some advice on the proposed approach to risk and safety of participants and spectators.

Hockeyroos Hold Nerve In Shootout To Reach Grand Final

The Hockeyroos have reached the inaugural FIH Pro League final after a nail biting shootout against Argentina following a 1-1 draw in Amstelveen.

Argentina were on the front foot for much of the game and hadn’t lost a shootout in four attempts throughout the competition - but the pressure of a semi-final is different to a home & away match and the Hockeyroos stepped up to the plate.

The final will be played against the winner of the second semi-final between Germany and the Netherlands.

Australia’s Future Hockey Stars Head To Hobart For U18 Champs

 The eyes of Australian Hockey will be on Tasmania next week when the 2019 Under-18’s Australian Championships get underway in Hobart.

The Championships are supported by the Tasmanian Government, through Events Tasmania and Hockey Tasmania.

The Under-18’s Men’s and Women’s Australian Championships will run from Tuesday 9 April to Wednesday 17 April at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre in Hobart.

Hockeyroos Fall To New Zealand In Slippery Conditions

The Hockeyroos have fallen 3-1 to Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in slippery conditions on Sunday night at Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre.  

Stormy weather threatened to delay the start of the match but that didn’t stop more than 1,700 fans from braving the tough conditions in the final FIH Pro League contest on Australian soil for 2019.   

Australia struggled to adjust to the wet conditions throughout the match, allowing three goals to the New Zealanders through Olivia Merry (17’, 32’) and Amy Robinson (52’).   

Though the play was quite even throughout the early part of the night, Australia struggled in front of goal with many of their ten shots firing across the face or being cut off by a tenacious New Zealand defence.
