Men’s World League squad named

Kookaburras coach Graham Reid will showcase a strong senior squad at the upcoming Hero World League Final in Raipur, India later this month after welcoming back players from injury and scheduled recoveries. Having already qualified for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games at the World League Semi Final in Belgium earlier this year, the Australian 18-man-squad will face the world’s best teams for the World League title, automatic qualification for the 2016 Champions Trophy and international ranking points.

Seven Australian players and their Australian coach are celebrating after helping Jaypee Punjab Warriors clinch their first Coal India Hockey India League title at the weekend. The team, led by former Kookaburras coach Barry Dancer, included Kookaburras Simon Orchard, Kiel Brown, Chris Ciriello, Mark Knowles, Jake Whetton, Matt Gohdes and goalkeeper Tristan Clemons.

7.4 When the ball is played over the back-line and no goal is scored:

b. if played unintentionally by a defender or deflected by a goalkeeper or player with goalkeeping privileges, play is re-started with the ball on the 23 metres line and in line with where it crossed the back-line and the procedures for taking a free hit apply
With the ball being placed on the line, the re-start is effectively within the 23 metres area and the provisions for taking a free hit are applicable.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) is pleased to confirm that the men’s Hockey Champions Trophy will take place at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in England from 10-17 June 2016.

As a result, sports fans will now be able to experience two weeks of action-packed, world-class hockey, with the women’s Hockey Champions Trophy taking place immediately afterwards, from 18-26 June.
