National Hockey Week
Top 5 Tips for Success
Beginning Saturday 28 May and running for nine days through until Sunday 5 June, National Hockey Week is a chance to celebrate hockey on social media and on the ground in communities around the country.
To help with your planning, we’ve pulled together our five top tips to make the most of National Hockey Week 2016.
Tip #1: Brighten up the club with your Hockey Hub pack*
Use your Hockey Hub pack to brighten up the club with banners, bunting, posters, stickers and more.
Don’t forget there is also a host of downloadables too, such as posters, digital wallpapers, media release templates, guidance and more available by logging in to the Destination Hockey portal.
Tip #2: Engage your local media with a great story
Your local newspaper, radio and TV station need great stories. Amongst your club or association there will be lots of people with inspirational or interesting stories. And, of course, hockey plays a part in their lives. Start seeking out the best stories and approaching your local media.
Tip #3: Celebrate socially with #DestinationHockey and #NationalHockeyWeek
We want to see your photos, videos and stories celebrating what makes hockey great. Share them on social media using the hashtags and we’ll repost as many as we can. We’re on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Tip #4: Run an event
National Hockey Week is a great excuse to run an event. It could be a fundraiser, a community engagement event or just something to get your members together after a hectic start to the season. We’ve got a few suggestions that might just hit the mark. Download our ‘What to do’ suggestions.
Tip #5: Tell people about National Hockey Week
The more people that know, the better. Tell your friends and clubmates and start planning what you’ll do to mark National Hockey Week.
*If your club/association hasn’t registered to be a Hockey Hub as part of Destination Hockey there’s still time to do so and order your free Hockey Hub pack before National Hockey Week.
